Group Three Sceptre Fillies Stakes Guide 2021

The three year old filly Landed both of her races as a juvenile and when returning this season landed both of her races again to start her career with four straight wins.

Furtado decided to step her up for the Group One Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket and she was not disgraced at all finishing a decent sixth behind some superstars.

Last time out she was seen finishing a narrow second to the William Haggas trained Cloudy Dawn in a Group Three in France and off the back of that form she enters calculations.

Progressive type.

An interesting runner is the Chris Wall trained Double Or Bubble who has been a model of consistency of late and it would not be surprise to see her go close.

The four year old filly having been a nice three year old winning two of her three events, came back this season in taking style to bolt up in a good handicap at Newmarket.

She then struggled in Group Two company at Royal Ascot, but back down to Listed company after that at Chelmsford saw her finish a good second behind Highfield Princess.

Staying in Listed company she got back to winning ways two starts ago over six furlongs at Pontefract and she backed that up last time out when second to the smart Toro Strike at Goodwood in a good Group Three.

Certainly in the mix on her form this season and looks an each way player.

Highfield Princess had a very busy three year old season which ran from June through to December and she began to find her feet in handicap company over seven furlongs.

After a pipe opening run, she stormed to victory in a low grade affair before taking a huge step forward to win the Buckingham Palace Stakes at Ascot last month off a mark of 92.

The form was franked recently with Danyah winning at Ascot on King George day.

She’s since taken to Listed company at Chelmsford and again stepped up to win nicely, but her winning run came to end next time out in the Group Three Oak Tree Stakes at Goodwood.

Last time out she was seen giving the best performance of her career when finishing a good second behind Space Blues in the Group Two City Of York Stakes.

Now dropping down to Group Three company she could be a player if improving again.

One of the unknown entities in the field is the Henry De Bromhead trained Wren's Breath who has only been seen twice to date, running consistently.

The three year old made her debut at Navan in July and was a neck second, with the front two five lengths clear of the third.

She used that run to get off the mark next time out over the same course and distance in Listed company beating some good sprinters.

Hollie Doyle takes the ride and this unexposed filly could take another step forward.

Another Irish raider in the race is the Jessica Harrington trained Loch Lein who was a smart juvenile but needed her first few runs of this season to get going.

Having learnt on the job at six furlongs, she was tried for the first time in July over 7f at Deauville and got off the mark for the season on very soft ground.

She was then sent to Tipperary in a Group Three over 7.5f and was another good close up third, but it does seem as though soft ground is needed to see her at her best.

Needs more.

Stepping up into Group Three company is the John Gosden trained Sweet Enough, who has been highly progressive this term and could take another step forward.

Making her seasonal debut at Lingfield and hitting traffic, she was then given her turf debut at Newmarket and finished a good second behind Passionova.

She finally got off the mark next time out over 7f, bolting up on quick ground in a Class 4 Handicap and she quickly backed that up over a mile at Yarmouth.

Now 7lb higher looking for a hat-trick she went to York's Ebor meeting and won a very competitive handicap and she is now worth her chance in this race.

Value angle.

The daughter of Invincible Spirit was a hugely impressive 6.5 length winner on her only start as a 2yo on the all weather (7f) and she subsequently breezed up by 9 lengths on her return in a Redcar novice stakes, albeit a 1/5 favourite for the affair.

She was undone by heavy ground last time out on her first time step up to 8f in the Group One Coronation Cup, finishing ninth of 11.

The filly was a much better fourth of 10 last time out in the Group Three Atalanta Stakes over a mile at Sandown and the drop down to seven furlongs could be exactly what she needs.

A horse with a lot of potential but now needs to fulfil it.

Having been a smart juvenile the daughter of Lawman this season made a very smart return when a short head second behind Group One winner Alcohol Free.

However, since then her season has gone down hill finishing a tame eighth in the 1000 Guineas and then when dropped into a Group Three at Epsom could only finish a long way back in third.

Dropped again into Listed company she was another weak sixth of 10 at Sandown over a mile and she will need the drop to 7f to spark a revival.

Michael Bell fields the three year old Meu Amor who is one of the most exposed horses in the field being frequently used as a juvenile and this term.

Having struggled throughout this season, two starts back she gave the best run of her season when landing a Listed event at Carlisle with ease.

However, she took a step back when only beating one home in the Group Three Oak Tree Stakes at Goodwood and on that form she looks opposable.

Needs to improve.

The three year old daughter of Cable Bay has been very progressive this term in handicap company but now needs to raise her game in a big way to compete at this level.

Having finished a good second on seasonal debut at Thirsk behind a nice type for William Haggas, she then did not handle the soft ground at York over a mile.

Back to seven furlongs on quick ground at Salisbury she went close when runner up but backed that up twice when winning at Newbury and Sandown in very taking style.

Upped to a Class 3 Handicap last time out she was a good second behind the smart Aratus, who has since gone on to frank the form.

If able to compete at this level she is an each way player.

The penultimate runner of the race is the Hugo Palmer trained Glesga Girl who looks to be far to big a price for this event if improving.

Winning on her final start as a juvenile at Wolves, she then backed that up on her seasonal debut over the same course and distance.

She struggled on heavy ground at Ascot but bounced back in Listed company at Sandown when third behind the Andrew Balding trained Auria.

Last time out over 6f she was a long way behind Double Or Bubble in Listed company and if not improving on that form could struggle again.

The final runner of the race is the 50/1 outsider Undertheboardwalk who has been seen once to date when winning a seven furlong Novice Stakes at Salisbury in August.

It was a good performance but this is a huge step up in class and it looks to come too soon for her.
