Today could be the day for Lucky Lugger to break his maiden under rules.

The Matt Sheppard yard is striking at 14% over the last two weeks, and in-form jockey Stan Sheppard is booked to take the ride.

The eight-year-old has placed in three of his last four efforts over fences, but was last seen falling at Chepstow over two miles in late December. A key contender today, if feeling no after-effects from that fall, and should be open to progress now up in trip.

A competitive flat race rounds off the card at Ludlow today. Toby Bulgin-trained Tyger Lily could hold interesting claims, and Jordan Nailor is booked to take the ride.

The four-year-old looked very green on her debut under rules last month, but she settled eventually and finished fifth of eight over two miles at Newbury behind Chatty Girl.

Open to huge improvement with that experience under her belt, and she should go close today.
