The three year old, last season lit up the racing world when landing all six of his contests including the Listed Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot and after that landing back to back Group Ones in the National Stakes in Ireland and the Dewhurst at Newmarket.

Having never raced over a mile he stepped up for his seasonal debut this term in the 2000 Guineas where he finished a strong third behind Kameko and Wichita.

He was turned around quickly for the St James's Palace Stakes and although running another great race he could only finish second to the unbeaten Palace Pier.

At both his tries at a mile this season he has been outstayed, Appleby then decided to drop him back to seven furlongs and he got off the mark for the season in the Prix Jean Prat, to land his first Group One of the year.

He has not been seen since mid July and coming here fresh off the back of a break makes him the one to beat.

Siskin was the top two year old in Ireland last season, seeing off all competition in his four starts including landing his trainers first ever Group One in the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh.

The three year old showed he was a pace merchant and used that to good effect on his seasonal debut in the Irish 2000 Guineas, landing his trainers first ever Classic win.

With all systems go he stepped out of his Irish comfort zone to head over to England for the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

The two time Group one winner was the favourite to keep his unbeaten streak going, looking to land his sixth win in as many races, but was seen off in the final stages by the very pacy Mohaather for trainer Marcus Tregoning.

That was a still a solid performance but he will need to bounce back to his brilliant best on his French debut.

The son of Holy Roman Emperor has been the leading horse for the Condon yard, landing the Irish 2000 Guineas back in 2018 and last year landing the Group Two Minstrel Stakes at The Curragh and also taking the Prix Jacques le Marois last season.

The five year old is back for another season and made his debut at the Curragh in the Group Two Minstrel Stakes, defending his title to land back to back wins in the race.

A creature of habit he then headed back to France for another title defence in the Prix Jacques le Marois, but was outclassed and could only finish fifth.

He is normally a very consistent horse and last season lost this race in a photo finish to Circus Maximus and if repeating a similar run should go close again with wet ground his forte.

A horse who will revel in conditions is the consistent Circus Maximus for Aidan O'Brien, being a frequent player in one mile Group One contests and always putting up his best efforts with cut in the ground.

This season he has been seen three times, winning the Group One Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot on his seasonal debut and then finishing a good second to the speedster Mohaather in the Sussex Stakes.

Having some good form in the book he took on Palace Pier in the Prix Jacques le Marois and could only stay on into third behind two athlete's.

He faces another tough task in a classy field but if getting his way up front can not be overlooked being proven at this level and in France.

The first of the French runners in the race is three year old Victor Ludorum who has not been his consistent self this term only winning one of his four outings.

He looked very smart as a juvenile winning all three of his events, including the Group One Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere over course and distance.

As a three year old he has finished third three times, being beaten by some nice horses in the Prix du Jockey Club especially, but his best piece of form came over a mile when landing the French 2000 Guineas.

If being able to recapture that form he has to enter calculations at a track he performs well at.

The final runner in the race is another Andre Fabre and Godolphin link up with Persian King and this four year old has been a star for his handler, winning the French 2000 Guineas and finishing second in the French Derby as a three year old.

This season, he needed his first run of the season, but has since been back on top form landing a Group Two and another Group One last time out.

He stepped up for the Prix Jacques le Marois and had to settle for fourth behind Circus Maximus, meaning a career best performance and reversal of form is needed to go close here.
