Three French Horses To Follow For The Season

Earthlight

Earthlight is legendary trainer Andre Fabre's leading light for the season having hit the ground running as a two year old, racing five times and staying unbeaten in all of them, his trainer is very much looking forward to seeing what he can be.

The Godolphin owned colt landed back to back Group one successes last season, setting the French racing scene alight in the Prix Morny before coming over to England and dominating in the Middle Park Stakes.

All of his runs and wins have come at six furlongs and it looks as though Fabre believes he wants further with the French Guineas the big target this season.

Tropbeau

Tropbeau is a filly that British readers may have heard of having seen her finish a bold third on her last start when coming across the pond to place in the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes.

The three year old trained by Andre Fabre raced five times last year, being very underwhelming on her debut over 5 1/2 furlongs but after that she was stepped up to seven furlongs and landed a hat-trick of wins.

Her last start before competing in England saw her land a classy Group Two at her preferred distance and when going back down in trip could only finish in the placings.

She will be aimed at the one mile fillies division this season and could even be stepped up to 1 mile 2 furlongs depending on how she performs this season.

Sottsass

The final horse we believe that is worth following for the French season is last year's third in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Sottsass.

The four year old has fortunately been kept in training with Jean-Claude Rouget and after the career he has had, it would have been an error not to.

The colt has won four of his seven races to date, with his best season coming as a three year old when he landed a hat-trick of wins including the Group One Prix du Jockey Club and Group Two Prix Niel.

His run in the Arc was very pleasing for connections and if coming back in the same rich vein of form he could go better in the Longchamp Group One at the end of the season.
