Roaring Lion in 2018 was a horse that for many flat racing fans was one of the greatest horses to grace the sport in the last few years, winning big Group Ones at different distances and in two countries.
The race we want to throwback to is the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on Champions Day in 2018 where the Qatar Racing owned colt was dropped down to a mile for the first time in six races.
There was a lot of speculation whether this drop down in distance would prove beneficial for the grey, but as ever John Gosden got it spot on and in a great renewal of the Group One, Roaring Lion managed to just get up late in the day.
That was the last time Roaring Lion was seen on a race-track in Britain, having just one more race in America before sadly passing away from Colic last year.
