The first race on the final day of Glorious Goodwood sees the consolation race for the Stewards Cup and Treacherous for trainer Ed De Giles looks an interesting runner.

The six year old is set to be ridden by Harry Bentley who has already notched a winner at the Sussex track this week and that is a bonus.

The gelding overall is a consistent sort who has won four of his last eight runs including victory over this C&D in June.

The son of Paco Boy won last time at Haydock when returning to turf and is more than capable of making it back to back victories here.

The Unibet Summer Handicap over the staying trip of 1 mile 6 furlongs sees an experienced field of runners go to post and Platitude is the horse that takes the eye at the prices.

Trained by Amanda Perrett the seven year old is the most experienced horse in the field over this distance which is something you need to be to win this race.

The gelding was a 2¾ lengths second at Sandown last week behind Mancini and still going off the same mark for this contest gives him an each way chance.

The first big race of the day at Goodwood is the Group Two Lillie Langtry Stakes and although only four head to post it looks a very tight affair.

The Ralph Beckett trained Manuela De Vega is our selection in this as the filly made an impressive start to life as a four year old when winning the Group Three Pinnacle Stakes at Haydock beating Fanny Logan who went on to bolt up in Group Two company at Royal Ascot next time out.

She was second in this race last season behind rival Enbihaar, but this is a perfect opportunity to reverse the form, seeking a hat-trick.

The Stewards' Cup is the highlight of the Saturday for many and always sees a huge number of runners head to post and for that reason we have two selections.

The first is the very likeable Watan for Richard Hannon who broke his maiden tag at the first time of asking at Glorious Goodwood two seasons ago over six furlongs.

Since then he has been hit and miss but seems to do his best work over this trip with two wins and a place from his three runs over the distance.

He was second behind race favourite Nahaarr last time out when giving him 9lbs but now only gives him just one pound and it would be no surprise to see him finish ahead of him here.

At a bigger price for the Robert Cowell team is Aljady who is primed for a big run in these sort of events and has shown this season a clear amount of pace.

The five year old returned to winning ways when winning a competitive handicap at Windsor earlier this month and has an outstanding five wins and three places from eight runs over this distance.

The 5lbs rise from his last win should not holt his progress and with plenty of bookmakers offering extra places for this race, it might be worth shopping around.

A day full of handicaps in Sussex on Saturday and in the Class 2 Qatar Handicap the lightly-raced MISTER SNOWDON catches the eye here having ran a cracker on handicap debut at Yarmouth last month.
He made a swooping move to the front that day, evidently showing he has plenty of speed and a change of gear needed to go well around this track, and with plenty in this arriving with questions to answer he rates the most solid option having previously won his first two starts in novices.
Drawn well and should be thereabouts.

One of our best bets on the final day comes in the penultimate race of the festival in the seven furlong Maiden Stakes and Golden Flame for Mark Johnston has a lovely pedigree.

The son of Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Golden Horn was second on debut at Haydock behind a horse that went to finish second twice in Group Two company.

In only his second run at a racecourse he went on to finish fourth of eight in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot and that form seems to be working out with the winner since landing a Group Two.

The standout horse in this field.

The final event of the five day festival at Goodwood sees the Apprentice Handicap and Hats Off To Larry for Mick Channon is definitely in with a chance of landing this.

The gelding had a terrific 2019 winning two and placing in three of his six runs and should progress from that on Saturday with less weight to run with.

He looked somewhat back to his best when returning at Ripon last month and with the dust now completely off and having undergone wind surgery, he should be right in the mix once again.
