The first race at Newmarket on Tuesday is the seven furlong maiden stakes over seven furlongs and the horse that takes the eye is Magical Land.

The Charlie Appleby trained colt looks to be one of the most experienced horses in the field having raced twice last season as a juvenile.

The three year old made his debut at Newmarket over six furlongs on quick ground back in June 2020 and was a good second behind an Andrew Balding horse.

He was then stepped up to seven furlongs on his second and final run and again was the bridesmaid when second behind Youth Spirit again for Andrew Balding.

In his two races to date the youngster has beaten horses like Naval Crown, Nando Parrado and Existent that have all gone on to frank the form in much better races and now a season older he could be very special.

With no bet in the second race of the day with it being an event we will just watch, we move onto the seven furlong Conditions Stakes and Noble Dynasty for Charlie Appleby can land a quick-fire double.

This animal cost 3.6 million guineas and on both of his two year old run he showed plenty of promise that could see him be different class in his prime this term.

He finished second last June on his debut over six furlongs at Newmarket, when narrowly beaten by stablemate Modern News.

The son of Dubawi got off the mark at the second time of asking at Kempton on the all weather, being stepped up to seven furlongs and saw off the likeable Rifleman for John Gosden.

He has it all to prove in a hot race, but if living up to his price tag could be a horse to watch rise through the ranks throughout the year.

The third selection of the day from us comes in the Pat Smullen Memorial Handicap over a mile and in a race everyone will want to win, Hortzadar for David O'Meara looks the form selection at 7/2.

The six year old has been running nicely at the back end of last year when being sent to Ripon and York over a mile and winning similar events like this.

Having slightly fluffed his lines on his two penultimate starts when running average races at York in a big field and the Balmoral Handicap at Ascot on Champions Day, with soft ground going against him.

Being off since October, he made his return to the racecourse in quick conditions at Doncaster in the Lincoln to finish a superb third behind Haqeeqy, who looks a class above.

Getting a mile on quick ground again off the same mark as last time out makes him a huge player if replicating the same run.

The feature event on Tuesday afternoon is the Listed Feilden Stakes over 1m1f and for us Secret Protector for Charlie Appleby and William Buick can top off a great day for the yard.

The three year old was an $800,000 purchase as a yearling by Godolphin and made his debut in September at Kempton over seven furlongs and finished a good third behind Rich Waters and Megallan, with the latter franking the form in a good race.

The son of War Front got off the mark on his second time of asking again at Kempton over seven furlongs when going on to dominate a good field.

Being given a small break, he was given his turf debut on good ground over 9.5 furlongs at Meydan in a Conditions event and he absolutely bolted up.

He gets similar conditions again today and looking at his pedigree is sure to come on a heap for that run.

The penultimate race of the day from Newmarket is the bet365 Class 2 Handicap over seven furlongs and the four year old Roit looks the value in the race.

The John & Thady Gosden trained gelding got off the mark at the fourth time of asking at Kempton in September 2019 over seven furlongs and then was off the track for 13 months.

He returned in October last year and massively needed the run after that long lay off, but at the start of April went to Chelmsford and was a much better third.

He gets back on turf for the first time in over two years and if now fit and ready after the two all weather close calls, he looks one for the shortlist for a thriving yard.

The final event of the afternoon is the Class 3 Handicap over five furlongs and Rewaayat for Charles Hills looks the most likely winner.

Although now a six year old, the gelding is fairly unexposed for his age and actually offers the best form in the race from what he did last term.

The gelding on seasonal debut last term scored nicely at Lingfield over six furlongs and then backed that up on quick ground at Salisbury.

He was then a good fourth of 16 in the Consolation Race for the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood and finished his season with a close second over 5f at Salisbury.

The quicker the surface the better for this horse and having gone well fresh in the past he has a huge chance.
