FIFTH RACE OF LADIES DAY: The Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase
Unique and thrilling, the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase is the fifth race of Ladies Day at the Cheltenham Festival. Run over a grueling 3 miles and 6 furlongs on the Cross-Country course, this test of stamina and agility features 32 diverse obstacles. Open to horses aged 5 and older, it is a conditions race (the only one at the Festival) with a £40,000 prize for the winner.
History of the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase
A relatively new addition to the Festival since 2005's expansion, the race is one of three Cross Country chases held annually at Cheltenham. Originally a handicap, it switched to a conditions format in 2016. Glenfarclas Whiskey has sponsored the race since 2008, with Sporting Index and BGC as previous sponsors.
