The Martin Pipe Conditional Jockey's Handicap Hurdle is the final race of the Cheltenham Festival.
This unique contest is exclusively for conditional jockeys, showcasing the rising talent in the sport. Run over a distance of 2 miles and 4½ furlongs (approximately 4,075 meters) on the New Course at Cheltenham, the race features nine challenging hurdles.
The minimum handicap rating for entry can vary each year, but horses must be at least four years old to compete.
The Martin Pipe Conditional Jockey's Handicap Hurdle, a relatively recent addition to the Cheltenham Festival, was introduced in 2009.
Unlike many Festival races, it has never had an official sponsor. Instead, it honors the legendary National Hunt trainer Martin Pipe, who retired in 2006 after an extraordinary career. Pipe's remarkable achievements include 15 Champion Trainer titles and an impressive 34 Cheltenham Festival victories.
