Grade One Arkle Chase Guide 2024

Grade One Arkle Chase 2024

The first Grade One over fences for the Cheltenham Festival of 2024, The Arkle tests the speedy two milers for bragging rights of the best novice chaser in the UK and Ireland. We've gone through all the runners and assessed their chances.

Authorised Speed

Was still going well when falling on his chase debut two out but couldn't back that up next time when only 3rd at Plumpton.

Found A Fifty

Already had the four starts, three of them in Grade 1s. Did manage to bag one of them on boxing day and just touched off in the other two.

Gaelic Warrior

Won his first two starts over fences including beating Il Etait Temps in a Grade 1 at Limerick over 19f at Christmas.

Something clearly amiss at the Dublin Racing Festival before he unseated his rider.

Hunters Yarn

Should be two from two but for falling at the last on his chase debut.

Form isn't at this level but he couldn't of done anymore.

Il Etait Temps

Just got up on the line at the Dublin Racing Festival to nab Found A Fifty and claim his first grade 1 over fences.

JPR One

Won two of his four starts over fences and it would of been three but for falling at the last when in command over C&D in November.

Only defeat came on heavy ground in a Grade 1 at Sandown.

Master Chewy

Has won two of his 5 starts over fences including a Grade 2 at Kempton two starts back.

Was behind JPR One at Lingfield last time.

Matata

Looked smart when winning on chase debut at Ffos Las in October.

Hasn't quite backed that up since although was only just touched off in a Grade 2 behind JPR One last time out.

My Mate Mozzie

Won a C&D novice chase in October and then was a staying on 2nd in a Grade 1 behind Found A Fifty at Christmas.

Stiffer track and better pace to run at definitely in his favour and he shouldn't be underestimated at decent EW odds.

Quilixios

Has won two of his three starts either side of a disappointing run over 3m in November.
