Grade One Stayers' Hurdle

The feature race of Day Three of the Festival, the Stayers' Hurdle establishes the best in the division for the UK and Ireland, we've assessed the chances of all the runners going to post.

Asterion Forlonge

Has reverted back to hurdles over the last year after not looking a total natural over fences.

Beat Monkfish in a Grade 2 hurdle at Fairyhouse last April before just missing out in a Grade 1 at the Punchestown Festival.

Buddy One

Won two handicaps including here and at Galway at the start of this season.

Tried Grade 1 company the last twice and been well beaten and pulled up.

Champ

Won the Grade 1 RSA Novices Chase at the Festival back in 2020 when absolutely flying home up the hill.

Crambo

Has improved again since stepping up to 3m and beat Paisley Park a head in the Grade 1 Long Walk at Ascot 82 days ago.

Has been saved for this since and shouldn't mind softer conditions.

Dashel Drasher

Has ran incredibly well in four starts this season including when winning the Grade 2 Long Distance hurdle at Newbury in December.

Been beaten the last twice but softer ground should really suit him here.

Flooring Porter

Won this race in 2021 & 2022 and was 4th in it last year.

Has been chasing this season and despite winning on debut at Cheltenham he has been disappointing twice since in defeat.

Reverts back to hurdles here and hard to know what to expect now.

Home By The Lee

Was 5 lengths behind a revived Bob Olinger on his first start this season over 2m 4f.

Making the running didn't suit when well beaten behind Irish Point over Christmas and we haven't seen him since.

Did run a screamer to finish 5th in this last season after making a horrendous mistake early in the contest.

Janidil

Wasn't a bad hurdler in his early days for Willie Mullins winning 3 of his 5 starts.

Has been chasing since the 2020/21 season and did manage to bag a Grade 1 over fences.

Noble Yeats

Won the 2022 Grand National and was 4th in the race last year.

Has been hurdling this season and won the Grade 2 Cleeve Hurdle here in January when last seen.

Paisley Park

Fair to say it would bring the house down of this lad managed to get his head in front in this.

Has been just touched off in all three of his starts including the Cleeve Hurdle behind Noble Yeats and the Long Walk behind Crambo.

Sire Du Berlais

Almost completed a Grade 1 hat trick last season but was just beaten at Punchestown. Did win this race though when getting the better of Teahupoo and then backed it up at Aintree.

Only had one start this season over 2m 4f and was well beaten.

Sir Gerhard

Won the Ballymore at this meeting in 2022 and chasing didn't really go to plan the following season.

Teahupoo

Unlucky not to win this last season when beaten a nose by Sire Du Berlais despite a bit of interference up the hill.

Won the Hattons Grace on his only start this season in December over 2m 4f.
