Grade Two Mares' Novice Hurdle Guide 2024

Always a tricky race to pick through, the Mares' Novice Hurdle attracts a top quality field this year with two Irish mares heading the market. We've taken a look at all the runners going to post.

Beaten on her first two starts this season in Grade 3s including when 25 lengths behind Brighterdaysahead.

Did win a listed race last time out from a mare who was won a listed race and grade 3 since.

Unbeaten in all 5 starts so far (2 bumpers & 3 hurdles)

Form of her wins isn't anything special but Gordon Elliott thinks she may be the best mare he has trained.

Winner of both her starts for Willie Mullins and she has been impressive both times.

Like Brighterdaysahead her form isn't anything to write home about but she couldn't of done anymore.

Won both her first two starts and then ran a lovely race behind the talented Queens

Gamble at Taunton in December.

All those runs have been on good to soft or better but does have form on softer ground in bumpers.

Winner of all six starts since joining Fergal O'Brien.

Won the Grade 2 bumper at Aintree last April and has been very impressive in her three runs over hurdles this season.

Finished behind Dysart Enos at Aintree last April but has taken to hurdles really well winning both starts so far.

Does need to improve again but after only 2 starts there should be plenty more to come.

Pulled up in a Grade 2 at Sandown last time and was well beaten in a listed race the time before.

Won on his only start since joining this yard at Punchestown 22 days ago.

Form yet to be really tested but she will handle softer conditions no problem.

Winner of two of her 3 starts for Gordon Elliott this season. Has since been switched to Harry Derham.

Needs more than what she has shown so far.

Winner of 4 novice hurdles through the summer.

Had 191 day break before finishing 3rd at Musselburgh on soft ground.

Won 2 or her 3 starts in novice hurdles this year.
