TOP HORSES TO FOLLOW ON CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL: DAY 3

The experts at TWE have analysed the form and honed in on their top horses to follow on Cheltenham Day 2.

See our picks below.

Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase (15:30) - Teahupoo

Teahupoo is a 7-year-old bay gelding currently trained by the renowned Gordon Elliott. His ownership lies with Robcour, although Philip Prevost Baratte was his owner until early 2021. Teahupoo boasts an interesting bloodline, with his sire being Masked Marvel (GB) and his dam Droit D'Aimer (FR). His dam's sire, Sassanian (USA), adds further international pedigree to his lineage.

Teahupoo was a close third in last year's edition of the race, but it could be argued that he was unfortunate not to win. He comes into this race fresh after winning the G1 Hatton's Grace in December.

Gallagher Novices' Hurdle (13:30) - Grey Dawning

Bred by Grange Stud, Grey Dawning is a 7-year-old grey gelding trained by Dan Skelton and owned by Robert Kirkland. With a strong bloodline, Grey Dawning was sired by Flemensfirth (USA) and out of the mare Lady Wagtail (IRE). His lineage also includes the notable Milan (GB).

Grey Dawning has won twice from four starts over fences, and was second at Cheltenham in mid-December. Won easily on his previous start over three miles, and sets the standard in this company.

Brown Advisory Novices' Chase (14:10) - Monmiral

Bred by S A R L Carion Emm, Monmiral is a gelding born on March 3rd, 2017, and is currently trained by the renowned Paul Nicholls. Monmiral has a prestigious ownership group including Sir A Ferguson, G Mason, J Hales, & L Hales. His French lineage is evident, with Saint Des Saints (FR) as his sire and Achere (FR) as his dam.

Monmiral qualified for the race when finishing fourth at Chepstow over an extended two miles and seven. He has won five from ten starts over hurdles, and should be a decent each-way play.
