Top Three Performances At The 2020 Cheltenham Festival

Champ - RSA Novices' Chase

The race of the week came on Wednesday in the RSA Chase where jumping the last the Irish seemed to have took the spoils with Minella Indo and Allaho battling it out up the hill.

However, Champ under the ride of the week from Barry Geraghty made up a huge amount of ground up the hill to sneak between the pair and take the contest.

The Betfair Exchange went crazy with Henry De Bromhead's gelding touching 1.06 and not going on to win but overall it was the genius and staying ability of Champ that should be respected.

Here it is again.

Easysland - Cross Country Chase

It was a hell of a week for owner JP McManus who managed to have winner after winner at this seasons festival and one of his stand out scorers across the week was his french Exploit Easysland.

The French raider went from the front for most of the race always cautious of the superstar Tiger Roll in behind him but he did not need to be.

He jumped the last superbly still on the bridle and went on to win the contest by 17 lengths giving one of the performances of the week.

Samcro - Marsh Novices' Chase

The final big performance of the week came from the one of a kind Samcro and this win for Gordon Elliott has to go down as one of the training performances of the year.

The gelding was a superstar over hurdles landing the Grade One Ballymore Novices Hurdle at the 2018 Cheltenham festival and then since then went off the boil.

He was taken chasing and landed his debut over fences nicely before falling in the Grade One Drinmore Novices Hurdle when looking sure to make a challenge.

He was poor again in a Grade One behind Faugheen and he kept scoping wrong and looked to be a horse that could not come back to his best.

However, in this event it was him and Melon going to the line and in a head bob Samcro got the decision in what was again another superb race.
