Snow Lantern for the Richard Hannon was a big eye-catcher on seasonal debut with the daughter of Frankel out of 1000 Guineas winner Sky Lantern, looking to have a huge future.

Having been seen once as a juvenile last term finishing second in a smart event at Ascot, she bounced back for her first run of this season in a strong maiden over a mile and the extra furlong seemed to bring the best out of her.

Second favourite to Derab, who looks to be an exciting half brother to Enable, the filly went away from the boys in final stages to cement her place in the 1000 Guineas betting market.

The quick ground played to her strengths whilst also showing speed and stamina over her first try of a mile and being nurtured into this Listed event makes her a big player, with bigger targets to come throughout the season.

Love Is You for Roger Charlton looks one of the more likelier runners to challenge the favourite, being highly consistent so far in her career.

The daughter of Kingman made her debut last year over a mile at Ascot beating some smart juveniles and she then backed that up at Newbury in a Listed event over 7f on heavy ground.

Showing versatility on soft ground, she came back for her seasonal debut tackling good conditions and she finished a good third in the Group Three Nell Gwyn Stakes behind Sacred and Saffron Beach.

The form of that race has been franked, with the second going close in the Group One 1000 Guineas and with ground looking to be softer than good, it could play to her strengths.

The Charlie Appleby trained Creative Flair is a filly on the upgrade, having been a smart juvenile and now looking like an even better three year old.

The daughter of Dubawi started her racecourse life off in July last year, finishing sixth of 10 over 7f at Ascot on rapid ground behind Snow Lantern.

Getting on to easier ground for her second run, she got off the mark in fine style landing a Fillies' Maiden at Sandown in August comfortably.

Saved for a three year old campaign she was upped to a mile in April for her seasonal bow and on quick ground was an impressive winner of a conditions stakes.

The horses in behind her that day have since come out and ran to a fair standard and if improving can not be overlooked.

Another runner for Godolphin in the event is Kestenna for John & Thady Gosden, who was disappointing last time out but before that was a filly to be on side with.

The three year old made her debut in January 2021, finishing a good second over 7f at Lingfield behind the nice daughter of Kingman Skulk.

She was then stepped up to 8.5f at Wolverhampton and ran out an impressive three lengths winner later that month.

Her best performance to date came two starts ago at Kempton when landing a decent even by nine lengths, powering clear in the final stages.

It was thought that she would kick on from that, but last time out was a well beaten second back at Kempton over a mile, with the winner of that race not franking the form since.

The filly needs to get back on track in this event, which sees her make her turf debut.

Coming towards the bigger priced runners in the field and Richard Hannon's second runner in the race is Shine For You, who looks a nice horse but might find a few too good.

The three year old filly made her debut last season at Kempton and finished a narrow second over 7f behind an average stablemate.

She then got off the mark at the second time of asking in a Novice Stakes at Leicester, this time getting the verdict in a photo-finish an she definitely improved for the quicker ground.

Shine For You was last seen in October in the Group Three Sharp Stakes over 7f at Newmarket finishing third behind Saffron Beach and this looks a tough on seasonal debut.

Sir Michael Stoute
Age: 3
Weight: 9-0

The Sir Michael Stoute trained Ville De Grace looks to be a nice filly for the master trainer and could outrun her odds of 9/1.

The daughter of Le Havre made her seasonal debut over 6f at Kempton in June last year and was a smart winner of a Novice Stakes.

She then tried to back that up in September when making her turf debut at Yarmouth and was a narrow second behind a nice type for William Haggas.

Saved for this term, she returned in the Group Three Fred Darling Stakes tackling 7f for the first time and she was a fair fifth behind some smart horses.

She will be much fitter for that event and is a big each way player at the current prices.

Ed Walker

The penultimate runner of the Listed event is the Ed Walker trained Primo Bacio and with the trainer landing his first Group Two event earlier this week, his yard seems to be in fine form.

The three year old seemed to need her first two events to get the hang of things, but on her third start dropping down to 6f was a good second at Chelmsford.

Stepped back up in trip at Chelmsford in December she finally got off the mark, taking a Novice Stakes by over two lengths.

Back for his seasonal debut this term he was a bold fourth in the same race as Ville De Grace and if improving for that run could be another who enters the frame.

The final runner of the contest is another for Godolphin and Charlie Appleby with Divine Light looking to get back to winning ways.

The daughter of Kingman made her debut in October last year and got off the mark at the first time of asking when landing a 7f event on soft at Newmarket.

This season she made her debut in the Group Three Nell Gwyn Stakes over the same course and distance, but this time on good ground and looked to need the run.

The more rain that comes the more beneficial it will be for this horse, who cost a fair bit as a foal.
