Ace Impact 6/1

The first horse we are putting up for the 2023 Arc is the Jean-Claude Rouget trained Ace Impact who is the current 6/1 favourite to take the race and we think that is a generous price at this stage.

Making his debut in January of this year when bolting up at Cagnes-Sur-mer over 1m2f on debut, he then went to Bordeaux Le Bouscat in April and made it 2/2 in similar fashion, giving weight away.

Sent into his first Listed event at Chantilly he made it a hat-trick of wins showing serious ability and plenty of consistency.

Looking to make it 4/4 when last seen in the Group One Prix Du Jockey Club, putting up the performance of his career he pulled away from a superb field to take the French Derby by close to four lengths.

The way he chased down the leader staying every inch of the 10.5f, stepping up to the Arc trip will look to suit and he is a highly promising three year old that has now won on good and soft ground which is huge for a race like the Arc.

Feed The Flame 14/1

At a bigger price is another runner for the home nation in Feed the Flame for trainer Pascal Bary who ever since being tried at 12f looks a different animal and at 14/1 looks a big price.

A winner on debut at Longchamp in April when taking a 10.5f Maiden on good to soft ground by close to six lengths looking an exceptional talent.

Backing that up next time out over the same C&D under a penalty on very soft ground he made it 2/2 for his career and an exciting talent for Bary to go to war with.

Sent to Chantilly for the Prix Du Jockey Club he ran another fair race but suffered the first loss of his career finishing just under seven lengths back in fourth behind Ace Impact.

Seen once more since he was stepped up to 1m4f in the Group One Grand Prix de Paris and the further he went the better he was, swooping on the outside to claim victory by a length from Irish Derby second Adelaide River and Epsom Oaks winner Souls Sister.

That run put him firmly in the frame for the Arc showing big staying ability and having form on different types of ground also gives him the versatility angle.

Big player at 14s.
