Three Standout Performances - 29/10/2018

14:05 Callthebarman

Callthebarman shocked odds on favourite Trongate, by cruising to victory in the Christmas Tribute Nights At Ayr Racecourse Chase, a Novices' Limited Handicap. In touch, jockey James Bowen began to make headway after the 5th fence, tracked the leaders past the 8th, led 4 from the finish and soon went clear. He looked a struggle on his chasing debut, but he jumped much better this time, and scored for Gavin Cromwell. Significant improvement.

14:20 Laughifuwant

Laughifuwant, trained by Gerard Keane, ran out an easy winner of the Corrib Food Products Maiden. In such a large field, very few got into contention. Laughifuwant led and disputed, was ridden to assert final furlong, and stayed on well to score by four lengths over the favourite Raynama. Didn't see a rival, and there will not be an easier winner today. Colin Keane at the double.

14:30 Lady Alavesa

A patient ride from Josie Gordon returned some of the investment N Scandrett & Strictly Fun Racing Club paid out on Lady Alavesa, who won a seller here a fortnight ago. Held up as usual, the filly began to make significant headway over 2f out, threaded the eye of a needle and led close home in a photo finish with Havana Mariposa, who was just denied. Good performance, with a excellently timed ride.
