Throwback Race Of The Day For Wednesday - 24/11/21

Envoi Allen

Today we are looking back at the 2019 Grade One Royal Bond Novice Hurdle with Envoi Allen going on to land the first big race of his career.

Envoi Allen has been a superstar for both Gordon Elliott and now Henry De Bromhead and although having a slight dip in form, he now looks back to his best.

Having been a smart bumper horse, taking out the Champion Bumper in gritty style, he then looked even better over hurdles, winning three straight Grade One races, starting with the Royal Bond.

Seeing off the Champion Hurdle third Darver Star and Grade One winning Abacadabras, he cemented himself as one of the most exciting horses in the sport.

Off the back of that he took the Lawlor Of Naas Novice Hurdle and then went to the Cheltenham to land the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle.

His life over fences has been topsy turvy, starting well when winning his first three events, including the Grade One Drinmore Novice Chase, but after that he lost his 12 race unbeaten record when falling at in the Marsh Novices' Chase and then at the Punchestown festival was pulled up.

Enjoy!
