Who To Follow At Doncaster On Saturday - 30/01/21

Horse To Follow - Cap Du Nord

One of the most interesting races on the card is the Sky Bet Listed Handicap Chase over three miles and Cap Du Nord is weighted to go extremely well.

The eight year old has been superb this season, finishing a good fourth on seasonal debut at Wincanton to blow the cobwebs away and then next time out getting off the mark for the term.

The gelding went to Newbury in a 16 runner Handicap Chase over 2m6f and jumped his opposition into submission, seeing off some of his rivals on Saturday.

Last time out he headed to Kempton in a similar event and finished a good second behind superstar Royal Pagaille for Venetia Williams, who has since franked that form by winning off a much higher mark next time out at Haydock and third placed Double Shuffle has since won next time out.

Cap Du Nord still seems to have plenty in hand when it comes to his handicap mark and if running to his current form has a big chance in this, handling the soft conditions well.

Trainer To Follow - Rebecca Curtis

Rebecca Curtis is a trainer who has been pretty low key this season, but on Saturday has some big chances at Doncaster that can put her back in the limelight.

On Saturday her two big chances on the day seem to be Pats Fancy in the Grade Two River Don Novices' Hurdle over three miles, having finished a nice second at Cheltenham last time out.

The other with a big chance is Financial Outcome in the Class 4 Handicap Chase, who if jumping well is an out and out stayer in tricky conditions.

Curtis, during her career has not got a bad record when sending her horses to Doncaster running at a 17% strike rate and she will be looking to add to that on Saturday.

Jockey To Follow - Adam Wedge

Adam Wedge is our jockey to follow on Saturday with Two good rides across the day and he heads into the meeting in some fine form, having a winner at the track on Friday.

In the River Don Novices' Hurdle he sits on the Emma Lavelle trained Shang Tang that has shown some decent form this season and could enter the places.

He rides for Rebecca Curtis in the penultimate race of the day on Financial Outcome, with the gelding a proven stayer in heavy ground.

Wedge has had a fine season to date landing the Welsh National with Secret Repreive and the Grade One Christmas Hurdle with Silver Streak.

He heads into the meeting having had three winners from his last 14 rides which sees him pose a strike rate of just under 20% for the last two weeks.
