Who To Follow At The Curragh On Sunday - 26/09/21

Horse To Follow - The Mediterranean

The Mediterranean appears a confident vote ahead of the Group 3 Loughbrown Stakes.

Aidan O'Brien has landed this race 3 times in the past including last years renewal with Dawn Patrol.

The Mediterranean, a son of Galileo, has performed admirably on his last 2 starts, finishing runner up in the Group 2 Voltigeur (12f) before keeping on well last time out to take 3rd in the Doncaster St Leger (14f).

The manner of his finishing run at Doncaster has signalled potential now for the runner over the 2 mile trip and he now takes a drop down in grade to a Group 3 to be competitive.

The 3yo colt holds plenty potential to now improve over the longer distance and holds leading claims in this having already shown his capabilities to be competitive at a higher level.

Trainer To Follow - Jessica Harrington

Jessica Harrington has hit a purple patch of late and is in red hot form coming into The Curragh meeting on Sunday.

The trainer boats a 28% strike rate across the last 14 days and has seen great success at Listowel during the week and Newmarket on Friday.

She holds live chances across the card on Sunday with highlight horses including debutant Paris Lights in the 14:00, a full brother to St Marks Basilica; Trevuance, her entrant for the Weld Park Group 3; Barrington Court, her strongest of 2 entrants for the Group 3 Loughbrown Stakes; and Provocateuse who has decent claims in the Joe McGrath premier handicap.

The trainer rounds off her day with Viareggio, who we have tipped as the most likely winner of the lucky last.

Jockey To Follow - Seamie Heffernan

Boasting as one of the Curragh's leading jockeys across the last 3 seasons, Seamie Heffernan is one to watch on Sunday with a host of live chances through the card.

The jockey boasts a decent 15% win rate at the track and has been given the leg up on exciting Aidan O'Brien newcomers Giovanni Bellini and Cougar in the opening 2 races.

Concert Hall is also down as being as short as 5/1 to land the Group 3 Weld Park stakes for his boss at 14:30 before getting a second chance at Group 3 glory thanks to Jessica Harrington who employs Heffernan on board her chancer in the Loughbrown, Barrington Court.

All in all, it may just be a successful day for Seamie Heffernan and one that may just pay to follow.
