Who To Follow On Day Four Of Glorious Goodwood - 30/07/21

Horse To Follow - Battaash

The worlds best 5f horse wasn't quite up to scratch last time out in the Kings Stand after an interrupted training schedule caused a delayed return for Battaash.

Charlie Hill's gelding is on course for a 5-timer in the King George Qatar Stakes and is arguably seen to his very best when running at Goodwood.

Despite issues, the 7yo would still take a lot of stopping in this race and with the runner expected to improve on last time outs display, he should take all the beating at back close to his best.

Trainer To Follow - William Haggas

Trainer William Haggas is often known for his winners during the Glorious Goodwood festival, boasting the 3rd most winners at the course in the last 3 years with an impressive 20.48% strike rate at the track.

Friday's card brings a couple of big chances for the Newmarket based trainer, with short priced favourite Baeed heading the market in the Group 3 Thoroughbred Stakes at 14:25 after an emphatic 4 length win in listed company last time out, a result that was equally as impressive on the clock.

The Queen's runner, Wink Of An Eye, has been boosted by the employment of Ryan Moore on board in the lucky last on Day 4 and is another well-fancied favourite to take Glorious Goodwood spoils for Haggas.

Johan in the Golden Mile and Pablo Escobarr in the Queens Plate Glorious Stakes each have playable angles into their races and round off a strong lineup of Haggas entrants on day 4.

Jockey To Follow - Jim Crowley

Jim Crowley is in good form currently with a 17% strike rate across the last 14 days and his Goodwood strike rate is a highly respectable 15% return.

The prize money Crowley has accumulated at the track is the big difference however with a whopping £1.2million banked for connections, just £100k less than top returner Oisin Murphy despite riding considerably less runners at the track in the last 3 years.

Crowley has asserted himself as one of the best big race jockeys in recent times thanks to his consistent high level of performances in the Group racing sphere and he saddles two strong favourites in the same sphere, Baaeed and Battaash on day 4.
