A trainer on Sunday is looking to have a winner at Musselburgh, sending just one runner to the Scottish based track on the day, which sees the handler travel across the Irish Sea to be competitive.
When we see trainers coming such a long way to just run the one horse we like to highlight it, as we believe they would not be coming all that way if it did not have a real chance.
The trainer in question is Michael Millar who brings forth his 9-year-old mare, Deo Bellator, a daughter of Getaway whose progeny boast an impressive 20% strike rate around Musselburgh.
Deo Bellator was a winner over todays 2m 4f trip at Clonmel in September and went close to following up as favourite at Sligo next time out, finishing runner-up.
She was last seen at Newcastle, finishing a fair 5th back down at an insufficient trip of 2 miles on the back of a 3 month break, and with that returning run under her belt, she offers potential to build on that now stepped back up to 2m 4f and switched to softer conditions.
An interesting proposition who may run a big race at a price.
