From his 18 years with a trainers licence, the Newbury based Andrew Balding has only ever sent up 33 runners to run at Redcar and in the past 12 months he's sent up just one horse and today he sends up just the one runner in the King Power Racing owned GOOD BIRTHDAY.
By multiple French Group 1 winner Dabirsim, he was well fancied on debut but it took him three runs to finally break his maiden which he did at Newbury.
He then won on handicap debut at Newbury and then once again at Beverley in August of 2019 which saw his mark rise to a career high 98. However, that was the last time that he has found himself in the winners enclosure and without a run in 12 starts since, his mark has now dropped to a fairly modest 88.
He did show signs of returning to his old self when beaten by a head over this distance at Newmarket two weeks ago and with that valuable experience in his locker, he's hard to rule out in a wide open field here.
