Favori De Champdou holds solid claims in the Grand National Trial at Punchestown today.

Gordon Elliott's runner has won twice from eight starts over fences, and was last seen finishing a respectable third in the Thyestes at Gowran Park.

Was a Grade Three winner at Limerick last April, and has impressed over these staying trips on softer ground. Needs to reverse the form with Velvet Elvis, but is given a chance at the weights.

Duffy Hodey holds leading claims in the handicap hurdle at 16:25.

Tiernan Power Roche is booked to take the ride on the progressive eight-year-old, who has won three from 16 starts over hurdles. Has been in excellent form this season, winning three of his last four starts.

Continued in that form when winning over two miles and three at Punchestown in early February, beating Balko d'Ange by seven lengths. Had plenty in hand on that day, and a 7lb rise is unlikely to stop his momentum.
