2020 Arkle winner Put The Kettle On will start her season off on Sunday in the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham, with the mare set to make her first appearance outside of novice company.
The six year old for Henry De Bromhead has been an improving project over the last few years with the mare winning six of her last seven events since May 2019.
Last season the daughter of Stowaway was nothing short of superb running four times and winning three of those events including back to back wins at Prestbury Park.
Having scored at Wexford in September she then went into a Grade Three event at Tipperary and was a narrow second in a race she really should have won.
However, she improved massively for that experience when stepping up to the Grade Two Arkle Trial at Cheltenham and seeing three smart runners to land the event.
That cam in November and she was kept iff the track until March, where she returned for the Arkle and at odds of 16/1 went on to land the event in emphatic style, using the weight allowance to power clear in the final stages of the race.
She is set fo another big season with the Champion Chase at the festival an obvious target for the six year old but she will have to tackle the Shloer Chase first and her trainer will decide whats next for his mare from that run.
De Bromhead said: “She’s in great form and is due to go over to Cheltenham for the Shloer Chase. She seems to love it over there, so she’s going over there this weekend.
“She’s in mighty form, working well, so we’re looking forward to that.”
The mare is set to take on a tough field of geldings with multiple Grade One winner Defi Du Seuil looking to defend his crown, whilst the in form Sceau Royal and Rouge Vif are also sniffing around the top of the market.
