Social Media can be a breeding ground for Fake News and it looks as though yesterday a rumour surfaced across different social media platforms that racing was set to be postponed for a number of weeks, when in fact this is not the case according to BHA and Government sources.
Officials from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport have told racing figures that no meeting has taken place concerning discussions about the shutdown of the sport for a number of weeks.
Some racing owners and other racing fans took to Twitter mainly on Sunday evening and rumours arose that the government was poised to order a halt to all sport, with racing fans latching onto this and put into question what was going to happen, with the Cheltenham festival only two months away.
Although the current crisis in the world is reaching a breaking point with the UK being put into a third national lockdown, it looks as though the rumours that sport will be halted are false and things like racing and football will continue for the foreseeable future.
