Bristol De Mai, Native River and Thistlecrack filled the top three places in a thrilling renewal of the Betfair chase this afternoon. Tizzard, who trains both second and third has a fine record in the race, but Nigel Twiston-Davies' Haydock specialist wasn't for stopping, travelling beautifully throughout before striding clear after a big leap at the last.
It's fair to say he was happy with that one..
There were concerns about the ground from a punters perspective beforehand, but the yard remained confident that he would relish the good ground and that he did. Might Bite who went off an even money favourite, brutally disappointed, finishing last of the bunch without looking himself throughout.
It certainly spices up the season's big chase-events, with Bristol De Mai now looking to have more up his sleeve and Thistlecrack potentially back to his best if he comes on for the run.
