Charles Byrnes is a trainer that is more known in the racing world for his horses performing in Ireland and does not send many horses across the pond to compete in Great Britain but he sends just the one today.
Minnies Secret runs in the 13:05 and Thosedaysaregone runs in the 14:50 at Wetherby for the trainer and the two horses have to be of some interest off the back of some of this trainers exploits throughout his career.
Back in 2016 Charles Byrnes along with jockey Davy Russell landed one of the biggest gambles the racing industry has ever seen pulling off a remarkable treble at Roscommon two years ago.
The treble when first priced up came to a starting price of 3,314/1 as combined odds. Before the off of the first race this was a different story and all three horses had been heavily backed to leave the treble standing at just 42/1.
The three horses went on to oblige and land the hat trick which was estimated to cost the bookmaking industry more than £1 million.
Minnies Secret will be having her British debut for the trainer after frequently racing around Ireland in Handicaps and has some modest form. She finished a good fourth in a field of 12 last time out and if the seven year old can progress from that she will have a right frame chance on Saturday.
The second horse is Thosedaysaregone and this looks a strong contest but the trainer would again not be bringing the horse offer for his British debut if he didn't think he had a good chance of either winning or being in the places.
His latest bit of form doesn't give the punter much confidence but if rinding his form from the back end of last season he really won't be far away.
