⚫ Cheltenham (13:10) - Plasir Des Flos
⚫ Cheltenham (13:45) - Hyland
⚫ Cheltenham (14:20) - Jonbon
⚫ Cheltenham (14:55) - Busselton
⚫ Cheltenham (15:30) - Valgrand
⚫ Cheltenham (16:00) - Clap Of Thunder
A very competitive Conditional Jockeys Handicap kicks off the Cheltenham November meeting, with plenty of live chances.
However, Plaisir Des Flos could be the most appealing. The five-year-old has won five from eight starts over hurdles, with all five of his victories coming in handicap company.
The latest of those was achieved over two miles and four at Carlisle, beating Mr Hope Street by just under a length.
Up another 7lb for that success, but there is plenty more improvement to come.
Just four runners are involved in the 13:45, but it is competitive nevertheless. Hyland could tick plenty of boxes for the Nicky Henderson team, with the seven-year-old winning twice from three starts over the bigger obstacles.
Both victories have been achieved on the Old Course at Cheltenham, with the latest of those seeing him secure a novice chase contest by a dominant 15-length margin.
Strength of that recent win reads very well, and looks to be the one to beat in this deeper contest on Friday.
Jonbon will be a red-hot favourite for the G2 Shloer Chase at 14:20. It is incredibly yard to overlook the Nicky Henderson runner, who will be the ride of Nico de Boinville.
The eight-year-old is already at the head of the Champion Chase betting for March, and should comfortably finish above this field if he is to prove his credentials in the two-mile race next year.
Jonbon has already bested Edwardstone on three previous occasions, including in this contest 12 months ago.
Has won 15 from 18 starts, including nine from eleven over fences. Classy operator, and holds rock solid claims.
Conflated could be hard to beat in the Cross Country Handicap Chase, but the fact that he is winless in two years means that he is opposable.
Busselton represents the Joseph O'Brien yard this week, with Richard Deegan taking the ride.
The seven-year-old has been a fine competitor in handicap company, and has won four from 20 starts over the bigger obstacles.
Was well beaten on his latest start over three miles, but a return to faster ground could suit him on this first start on the cross-country course.
The top two in the betting for the G2 Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle look set to dominate at Cheltenham at 15:30.
Potters Charm is respected, but it could be hard to overlook the dominance achieved by Valgrand at Cheltenham last month.
The five-year-old represents the in-form Dan Skelton yard, with Harry Skelton taking the ride.
He made a pleasing return after a 150-day break at Cheltenham at the end of October, beating Gale Mahler by a widening 17-length margin over an extended two miles.
That win ensures that he remains perfect over hurdles, and deserves plenty of respect now up in trip.
A competitive Novices' Handicap Hurdle rounds off the card on Friday. Clap Of Thunder looks like an interesting play at the prices for the Nigel Twiston-Davies yard.
Sam Twiston-Davies takes the ride on the four-year-old. Clap Of Thunder was an eye-catching winner at Ascot at the start of the month, beating Illegal d'Ainay by over four lengths.
That was a fine return after finishing fourth on hurdles debut, seemingly cleaning up his jumping.
Deserves plenty of respect to kick on once again, and will be one of the runners certainly favoured by ground conditions.
