Epsom Derby second Hoo Ya Mal was sold after his superb performance in the Classic event on the eve of Royal Ascot for £1.2 million and has been given to George Boughey before heading out to Australia.
A 150/1 shot for Andrew Balding in the 2022 Derby, he ran an absolute cracker to finish just behind Desert Crown and in front of Irish Derby winner Westover who has gone on to frank the form.
The three year old now looks to be sent over further trips having stayed the Derby trip well and in the short term the Group St Leger at Doncaster could be on the cards with his end goal looking to be the Melbourne Cup in Australia.
(Credit SBK) Boughey told SBK: “It’s very exciting to have a horse like Hoo Ya Mal in the yard.
“His work has been good and we are looking at the Gordon Stakes next before a possible tilt at the St Leger, before he heads to Australia with Gai Waterhouse for the Carnival out there.”
