🔴 Down Royal (13:00) - Romeo Coolio

A big field goes to post for the maiden hurdle at 13:00 at Down Royal, but it is hard to overlook the chances of Gordon Elliott-trained Romeo Coolio.

The five-year-old was an excellent second in the G1 Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival, before a disappointing return at Punchestown when fifth.

He was a point-to-point winner before being an expensive purchase, and is widely expected to get off the mark at the first opportunity over hurdles with bigger targets set to be in mind for the remainder of the season.

The first big Grade One of the season takes place at Down Royal this weekend, with Gerri Colombe and Hewick among the runners.

However, Envoi Allen could be the interesting play for a red-hot Henry De Bromhead team. The yard is currently operating at a 23% strike rate, and Darragh O'Keefe takes the ride on Saturday.

Envoi Allen has won seven from 18 starts over fences, which includes the 2023 Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

Was second behind Gerri Colombe in this race last year, before a lengthy absence before taking second in the Ryanair. Had a prep before his running last year, but should present a better chance when fresh this weekend.
