11 runners have been confirmed for a mouth-watering renewal of the 32Red King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.
Last year’s winner, Might Bite, has been confirmed for the race, bidding to retain his title.
The Queen Mother Champion Chase winner, and ante post favourite Altior, was not one of the confirmed 11 runners, nor was the RSA winner, Presenting Percy.
The King George does promise to be an exciting race with a star studied field. Might Bite and Native River rekindle their rivalry after their epic duel in the Gold Cup at Cheltenham.
Bristol De Mai beat plenty of these in the Betfair Chase at Haydock last time, including Colin Tizzard’s Thistlecrack who was third in that race.
Waiting Patiently makes his return to racing, after he was last seen beating Cue Card in the Ascot Chase in February, and Paul Nicholls’ pair – Politologue and Clan Des Obeaux will look to continue the yard’s fine form this season.
Cheltenham Festival winner, Shattered Love, has been confirmed as the only Irish representative in the race, with the absence of Presenting Percy. The Gordon Elliot trained runner is the only mare in the race.
Double Shuffle and Tea For Two were second and third in this contest last year, and they look to go one better this time around, as well as 2015 Gold Cup winning veteran, Coneygree completing the line-up.
The race takes place at 3:05pm on Boxing Day (Wednesday), being one the most eagerly anticipated races in the national hunt season.
