The weekend is almost upon us and that means that the first Grade One of the English jumps season is just around the corner and today we are looking back at the 2014 renewal of the Betfair Chase.
The Paul Nicholls trained Silviniaco Conti was a two time winner of the Grade One event and having landed the race in 2012 was back for more glory in 2014.
In his second win of the great race, he managed to see off the likes of Cue Card, Menorah and Dynaste who were all special horses in their own right.
Landing the Betfair Chase once is some achievement, but to do it twice is a superb training performance and this win added to Paul Nicholls tally of seven since the first renewal of the race.
Silviniaco Conti used this race as a prep run for the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day and after heading into the race in fine form he landed that Grade One aswell.
