G1 Queen Anne Stakes Guide 2022

Baaeed is a hugely exciting, unbeaten horse for trainer William Haggas. He won the Lockinge in scintillating fashion last time out, and had a couple of these well beaten in behind. He looks to be an absolute superstar and he is brushing aside all opposition, he should do the same again today.

Second to Baaeed last time out, Real World looks to be the principal danger to the long odds-on favourite here. After a successful, largely progressive season last year, he proved he is still a good animal when beating all bar Baaeed in the Lockinge, he travelled well into the race but just failed to match the class of the favourite. Is it likely to be the same again?

Breeders' Cup Mile winner in 2020, though, he's only got his head back in front once, from six subsequent starts. He largely looks exposed, and he's just short of the top level, on form anyway - he usually runs a solid race, but he often finds one or two, too good. Will need a career best to take this.

Chindit was a good third last time out in the Lockinge, he was only behind Real World and Baaeed there. He has some work to do to turn around that form, but if he runs to a similar level he's in with a real chance of fighting out the minor honours.

Lights On looks a progressive mare for Sir Michael Stoute, who's handled her expertly. She won the G2 bet365 Mile last time out at Sandown beating Mutasaabeq and Alcohol Free, which is good form. She still looks to be progressive so she's hard to rule out entirely, but she'll need to take her game to be in with a shout here.

Sir Busker remains winless since his victory at Royal Ascot in 2020, in the Silver Royal Hunt Cup. He runs creditably enough in defeat, but he has a habit of finding one or two too good. He ran moderately in the Lockinge, but finished 5th. That looks the key line of form here, does he have a real chance of closing the gap with Baaeed and Real World?

Always runs well at Ascot. Accidental Agent is eight years old now and he's a fantastic horse. However, he is simply not as good as a few of these and that should become apparent. He ran a good second in the C2 Victoria Cup here over 7f, when just touched off by Vafortino. That form will likely not be enough to see him get involved here..
