Yesterday saw Apple's Jade romp to victory by 20 lengths in the Grade 1 Hatton's Grace hurdle at Fairyhouse and this was to the delight of her trainer Gordon Elliott and the Gigginstown Owner Michael O'Leary.
Matt Chapman with At The Races got them both together to speak about how good this horse is after last season and what was her overall plan with next races to go for and what race she will go for with three possible options for Apple's Jade at the Cheltenham Festival.
Chapman was trying to push for answers as to why they were not keen on the Champion Hurdle even though there best chance Samcro for that race was this weekend swept aside by Buveur D'Air showing that it will be very hard for him to win that race.
Not many mares have been successful in the Champion Hurdle at jumps racing HQ but for the work she has done already this season and especially in the last race not just beating the field but comfortably destroying them, it does beg the question as to why she wouldn't go for that race.
Last year she tried to defend her title in the Grade 1 Mares contest on the Tuesday after winning it the year before but she finished a Dissapointing third behind winner Benie Des Dieux who has not been seen yet this season.
Elliott expressed that he will be sending Apple's Jade into a race at the festival that he believes she has the best chance of winning but for all racing fans they want to see the best horses against each other.
The stayers hurdle is also an option on the table and it is not a race that Gigginstown have ever won but we will have to wait and see what race she actually runs in with her next big test set to be at Leopardstown around Christmas time.
