⚫ Haydock (12:40) - East Street
⚫ Haydock (13:10) - White Rhino
⚫ Haydock (13:40) - Grand Geste
⚫ Haydock (15:18) - Thereisnodoubt
East Street looks to have solid claims for the James Owen yard in the opener at Haydock on Wednesday.
The eight-year-old has been in excellent form over fences already this season, winning on both of his previous two starts. Was last seen finishing eight lengths clear of Scene One over two miles and four at Leicester on December 1.
Returns over hurdles today on a handy mark, having won twice on five previous efforts over the smaller obstacles. Should be very hard to beat with Callum Pritchard in the saddle.
White Rhino represents the Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero yard in the second race on the card at Haydock on Wednesday.
Henry Brooke is booked to take the ride, with the jockey striking at 27% over the last two weeks. The eight-year-old was a progressive staying hurdler last season, and was an eye-catching winner on chase debut at the start of last month.
On that occasion, he finished two lengths clear of Donny Boy over two miles and four at Ayr. Looks a sound chance to follow up today.
Grand Geste could be an interesting runner in the maiden hurdle over three miles at Haydock on Wednesday for the Joel Parkinson & Sue Smith yard.
Grand Geste is yet to win in three attempts over hurdles, but stayed strongly on his latest effort when finishing just under a length behind Barlovento at a starting price of 200/1.
That was a much improved effort at Carlisle, and the step up to three miles should suit his chances today.
Derek Fox and Lucinda Russell join forces with Thereisnodoubt in the final race on the card at Haydock on Wednesday.
The eleven-year-old has won five from 39 attempts over hurdles, but there was enough to like about his comeback run at Carlisle at the end of October after a 299-day break to suggest that he could be on a dangerous mark today.
He shaped well in that race, despite eventually finishing ninth and 12 lengths behind To Chase A Dream.
Produced a fine effort over course and distance in December 2023 to finish second behind Punta Del Este, and could go well around Haydock once again today.
