Haydock Park hosts one of the stand out meetings on Saturday with four Grade 2 contests on offer but it may not go ahead due to adverse conditions and snow warnings in the area.
There is set to be an inspection take place at 7.30am with the card offering The New One Unibet Hurdle, the Sky Bet Supreme Rossington Main Novices’ Hurdle and the Patrick Coyne Memorial Altcar Novices’ Chase.
The going at the track is currently described as good to soft , soft in places with rain and sleet forecasted to fall on the course which could see the going changed if snow falls on the Friday night.
(Credit At The Races) Clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright said: “We’re perfectly fit to race today but we’re forecast rain and sleet this afternoon and this evening and there is just a chance it might fall as snow.
“So we’ll inspect at 7.30am but we’re confident of racing.”
This will be a huge lose to the weekends racing but also many horses who are looking to go to the Cheltenham Festival as well due to them using this race as a stepping stone and a preparation race to be in top condition for the best four days of the horse racing calendar.
