The connections of the now 15/8 favourite in the C & D Southwest Mares' Standard Open NH Flat Race at the tail end of the eight-race card at the Somerset venue could be very happy racing got the go ahead by the end of play.
The Jeremy Scott trained Drash On Ruby was 12/1 when put up on our daily tips page last night but significant support for the 5-y-o mare has resulted in the bookmakers slashing their odds.
She attracted plenty of early money, being cut into around 10/3 by Friday evening, and she has continued that trend throughout this morning moving into 15/8 favouritism.
It is easy to see why punters have latched on as this mare is a full-sister to the useful Dashel Drasher who competes in the bet365 Handicap Chase at Ascot today. That relative was a talented bumper winner who also went on to compete in the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival.
The form of Drash On Ruby’s debut fifth has a real strong look to it with the top five horses all worth noting going forward. If she manages to improve on that form today she is sure to go close for a yard who excel at this course.
Good luck if you are on!
