Saying that, if you would have tuned into Sky Sports Racing yesterday you would have seen a nice race card that saw the return of jockey Joao Moreira, who was looking to extend his lead at the top of the jockey standings.
However, Australian Zac Purton will not let it get away easily and with the pair both landing doubles it leaves the race for the title very much in the balance with Moreira just three wins ahead.
The Brazilian born rider has 109 victories to his name for the term now after Victorious Seeker struck in the Wan Chai Handicap before Simply Fluke made it two wins on the day.
(Credit At The Races) “I just allowed him to find his own rhythm. We know he’s got a good turn of foot and he’s the type of horse that if he gets there a bit too early, he can lose concentration. He felt that way last start when he won,” Moreira said of Simply Fluke.
“He built up a good momentum, they went quite fast in front and they were always going to be coming back for me on the home straight. His last section of the race was really good and he might win another one.”
As we said before, Zac Purton is hot on his heels and will not give up the title without a fight and after landing two nice winners of his own on the card with Happy Warrior and Sky Show.
He said: “He’s a nice horse and physically he looked well. He came out of Conghua trials where there was no pressure so he went to the races on debut a bit big, he had that competitive run and a good trial and that just brought him on.”
