The favourite in the market is the William Haggas trained Alenquer who has some seriously smart form that ties in with the Derby winner Adayar.

The three year old has been seen three times to date, winning at Newbury in a good maiden on soft as a juvenile and then finished second at Haydock behind Fancy Man on his final start last term.

This season he has only been seen once and bounced back to winning ways in a big way when taking the Group Three Classic Trial.

That saw him beat Derby winner Adayar in good fashion and also was ahead of some of his rivals in this event aswell.

Seems to handle soft and good and has to be feared.

The three year old has been seen three times to date finishing seventh of 17 in a Maiden at The Curragh behind stablemates Arturo Toscanini and Sir Lamorak as a juvenile.

This term he stepped up to 12f for his seasonal debut at Leopardstown and was a good staying winner of a decent maiden and then backed that up last time out over the same C&D when a narrow second to Fernando Vichi in a Listed event.

The trip will be no issue, but he will not want to much rain with his better runs coming on quick ground and that could be his downfall.

Roger Varian
Age: 3

The exciting Title runs for Roger Varian in this event with the three year old really getting his act together last time out and could go close here.

The son of Camelot was seen once as a juvenile over a mile on heavy ground at Newbury, just finishing a narrow second to the smart Aleas.

This season he was stepped up in trip for his seasonal debut over 1m3f and again he was a narrow second behind Glen Savage for the Gosden's.

Last time out at Yarmouth he finally got off the mark beating the talented Sea Karats well in the final stages and if building on that going up in grade he looks a value bet handling both good and soft gound.

Charlie Appleby
Age: 3
Weight: 9-0
OR: 105
Days: 28

Godolphin's only runner in the race is Yibir for Charlie Appleby who has form closely relating to the favourite Alenquer and if improving has a big chance.

The three year old has some of the most experience in the field running four times as a juvenile, needing his first two in good company, but then on his final two runs won both events on good ground.

This season he finished third on debut at Sandown when stepping up to 10f behind Alenquer and Adayar and then backed that up with a fair fourth at Chester in a Listed event behind El Drama.

His final outing to date came at Goodwood over 1m3f where he was second behind Lone Eagle and he will need to be better than that to go close here.

Gear Up

The three year old made his seasonal debut at York over 7f in a decent maiden and dominated the field late one and then backed that run up over the same course and distance when landing the Group Three Acomb Stakes.

Seeking a hat-trick the son of Teofilo went to Newmarket for the Group Two Royal Lodge Stakes over a mile and was a weak fourth of five.

He put that blip behind him on his final start last term when heading over to France for the Group One Criterium de Saint-Cloud over 1m2f and winning the event.

He saw off runners like Makaloun and Bolshoi Ballet that have since gone on to win in good style this season.

Gear Up made his seasonal debut this term in the Group Two Dante Stakes and finished an average fifth of 10 and off the back went into the Derby and only managed to beat one home.

This is a much easier race but does need to bounce back on what he has done this term.

Sir Mark Todd

Days: 34

The Sir Mark Todd trained Tasman Bay could be the value in the race at 9/1 with the three places on offer, with the son of Le Havre showing clear ability on all his starts.

The €220,000 purchase as a yearling did not like the heavy ground on debut behind Aleas and Title, but this season has turned into a much improved horse getting off the mark on seasonal debut at Newcastle over a mile when beating the 1/5 favourite King Vega.

He was then upped in trip to 10f at Newbury and finished a good third behind the smart Maximal and Hurricane Lane who have both ran well since in better races.

The colt last time out also ran a cracker in the Listed Fairway Stakes when second behind the talented John Leeper and if improving again could nab a place.

The penultimate runner of the race is the Martyn Meade trained Gloucestershire who was a $145,000 purchase as a foal and then was sold again for 78,000.

The son of Flintshire has only been seen once to date and it saw him land a Maiden at the first time of asking over 1m3f on the all weather at Kempton.

He steps up for his turf debut, being plunged into tough company, but showing he stays a trip well he could turn out to be special.

One to watch.

T:

David Menuisier
Age: 3
Weight: 9-0
OR: 100
Days: 36

The final runner of the race is the David Menuisieur trained Belloccio, who needs to improve from both his runs so far this season to get involved here.

The son of Belardo was a smart juvenile for the yard winning both his events in nice style, starting in October at Salisbury over a mile, with the form of the race working out well and then backing that up over in France in a Listed event.

Back this season he finished a fair fifth when up in trip to 1m2f in the Classic Trial, but last time out when sent into the Group Two Dante Stakes was well beaten by better runners.

On that form he is opposable.
