Listed Flying Scotsman Stakes Guide 2021

Wearing the all blue of Godolphin is Noble Truth for Charlie Appleby and William Buick. 

A son of Kingman, he’s won one of his three outings to date. A debut over seven furlongs at Newmarket hinted at plenty of promise as he finished third behind the ever impressive Lusail. 

Running well in a deep contest set him up nicely to get off the mark at the second time of asking at racing HQ again. 
Last seen running in Group 3 company in the Acomb Stakes.

Despite not being disgraced he didn’t acquit himself well in deeper waters. He has shown plenty of potential but he needs to leave behind his Acomb run to be competitive. 

A Territories 2 year old for Andrew Balding who made an encouraging debut at Sandown on deep ground back in July. 

Despite going off a big price he showed plenty of promise to run on into a never nearer 3rd in novice company. 

With some experience under his belt he then went on to easily take the Convivial Stakes at York last month. Giving a big and decent field a sound beating.

Oisin Murphy retains his place in the saddle and his form sets a strong standard. 

The Richard Hannon trained Razzle Dazzle who is a beautifully bred son of Muhaarar who has made a very good impression on both his starts to date.

Making his debut in August the juvenile was a good second behind the Expensive purchase Hafit for Godolphin and off the back of that he improved in a big way to land a Novice Stakes over the same course and distance at Newmarket by close to six lengths.

Stepping up to Listed company is the next logical step and if improving again could go close.

Marcus Tregoning brings his once raced Dark Angel colt Ribhi off the back of a debut win. 

Running at Salisbury over six furlongs last month, he was un-fancied in the market at a big 20/1 but beat more experienced rivals with ease. 

We don’t have a whole lot to go on but the race has produced a subsequent winner. 

He shaped well on debut and gained a winning thread immediately, he could have any amount of improvement in hand off the back of that. 

One of the more experienced runners in the field, Eldrickjones looked to be booked for big things when running an almighty race to be second in the Coventry Stakes at 66/1. 

Unfortunately he’s failed to kick on from that and has only managed fifth place finishes in his last three outings. 

Kept at a high level, he maybe hasn’t progressed as fast as some of his juvenile counterparts and is struggling to get competitive. 

Last seen coming fifth in the Gimcrack stakes at York, he shaped like going further would suit and it could draw out the improvement needed to see him replicate the shift he put in at Ascot. 

Not without hope but he has plenty to prove in this grade now. 

Recently breaking his maiden for John and Thady Gosden, Find took 4 attempts to shed his maiden tag this season. 

A promising debut over seven furlongs saw him come 5th in a very strong race that featured New Science and Reach For The Moon. 

Coming second to Lusail at Newmarket after that saw him have Noble Truth back in third. 

Beaten at 1/3 after that he finally got his head in front when last seen at Yarmouth. Bounced out in front he made every yard and easily beat a weak field by six lengths. 

He might not be of the quality of some of those but he’s run well in defeat and notching a win will help his confidence.

A solid each way angle. 

The two year old son of Dark Angel has been a very consistent performer to date, making a winning debut at Salisbury in June and then backed that up with a close up fourth in a hot race at Yarmouth.

He then went to Newmarket and finished a good second over six furlongs, but at York took his form to a new level when staying on into second on handicap debut.

What made this horse an eye-catcher was the way he did everything wrong coming out the stalls and then stayed on in the latter stages to finish runner up behind a nice type.

He has key experience and if settling better at the start looks a big price.

Owned by a conglomerate of footballers, Mr McCann is trained by Tom Dascombe and has been highly consistent this season. 

Starting over five furlongs, the minimum trip was far too sharp for him but he ran on well for third. 

Moved up to six furlongs and then seven furlongs saw him pick up an easy brace of wins but he’s since moved up in grade and has struggled to find his feet in deeper waters. 

Last seen coming sixth in a nursery handicap at York, he looked to have a lack of pace in a stronger race. 

He does have some smart form in the books but is already shaping like he needs further than seven furlongs. 

A four race maiden for Richard O’Brien, Gwan So makes the trip over from Ireland despite not managing to notch a win yet. 

Debuting over six furlongs he lacked the pace to get truly involved but shaped like further would bring out improvement. 

Moving up in trip however didn’t quite yield the results and he’s had to settle for second and third place in his last two runs. 

From what he has shown so far in four fruitless runs it would be surprising to see him get involved.

One to be avoided. 

Only seen once, David Loughnane’s Leopold Bloom only got his head in front narrowly on debut at Thirsk last month. 

The form hasn’t worked out well and he only managed to win by the narrowest of margins. 

He shaped well enough to win on debut but drops into a deep contest here on only his second career start. Likely to be bringing up the rear.
