There seems to have been some big money put down ahead of some of the racing at Carlisle today and we have highlighted one runner that has undergone some serious support.
The horse in question is the Rachael Menzies trained Fonzerelli that has seen his opening price of 10/3 be smashed into as short as 2/1 ahead of the 15:10 at Carlisle.
The 5-year-old mare has shown considerable promise across two of her three starts, winning on her sole point to point start in Ireland before subsequently making the switch to Keith Dalgleish.
She flopped on her only start for Dalgleish in December last year, going off a well backed 5/2 favourite in a Sedgefield bumper before finishing a never nearer 6th.
That performance didn't dishearten buyers however and she was sold later that month for £42,000, a substantial fee.
She marked her return from 10 months off the track last time out, under new stewardship, with a big run over C&D, going clear with one other before just tiring in the final strides.
She's entitled to come on for that run second time back, should strip fitter, runs upon similar soft conditions today and the form of her runner-up finish has already been franked by the 4th runner home, who went on to win on hurdles debut next time out.
Looks set to go close once more here.
