My Tent Or Yours, who finished runner-up in three Champion Hurdles, has been retired by trainer Nicky Henderson.
The 11yo finished a neck second to Jezki back in 2014 in a JP McManus 1-2, before finding the Willie Mullins-trained Annie Power too good two years later. He again finished behind another JP runner Buveur D'Air in 2017, who is now a dual winner of the festival showpiece.
One of the more popular characters at Seven Burrows, Tent won nine of his 25 outings, featuring two Grade Ones - the Fighting Fifth in 2013, before the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton a month later.
In his later years, he never lost his quality - he simply just found one who possessed a bit more. When a race seemed over, Tent never gave up and always ended up running into a place. Having recorded over £800,000 in prize money, he never ever finished outside the top four.
(Credit: Racing Post) Henderson, who announced the news in his Unibet blog, said: "It is with great sadness I have to announce we have decided to retire dear old My Tent Or Yours.
"He has been a really special friend to all of us here at Seven Barrows, and [head lad] Corky Browne absolutely adored him, but his old joints were starting to get a little bit rickety and when he’s galloped around for so many years like he has, the wear and tear starts to show so he deserves an honourable retirement.
"Luckily nobody retires horses better than JP McManus and he can now join all his old friends like Binocular and the rest of the pensioners at Martinstown, where he will be looked after like nothing else on earth – of which he deserves every bit of it.
