Bath based trainer Neil Mulholland is sending just the one horse on the 840 mile round trip up to Perth today and that comes in the shape of his nine year-old chestnut gelding PUTTING GREEN.
After winning twice on the flat in 2015 for Richard Hannon and reaching a handy mark of 95, he moved to Venetia Williams however he could only manage one place from his six runs under her guidance.
After a 606 day absence, he rediscovered some of that form he showed on the flat when landing back to back victories over this C&D in 2019 including in this same race when running off a mark of 114.
A run of poor results has seen him now drop back down to a mark of 105 but with the trainer clearly confident that he can repeat the feat of two years ago, he's a big player at a huge price.
