Royal Ascot Group Three winner Claymore will be looking for a first win on the all-weather at the sixth attempt on Friday.

The five-year-old for the Jane Chapple-Hyam team is yet to scale the same heights that he achieved at Ascot in 2023 but he could prove to be classy now back in handicap company.

He was last seen finishing sixth of ten over a mile and two at Newcastle, finishing five lengths behind The Foxes.

That was a solid enough return to action after a 176-day break, and he could be open to an improved effort on this second run following a layoff.

Precious Spartan looks to be an interesting outsider for the Nigel Tinkler team in the 15:48 at Newcastle on Friday.

The two-year-old is yet to score in five efforts under rules, and was last seen finishing last but one in a 12-runner field at Wolverhampton at the end of November.

His best efforts to date have been recorded at Newcastle, and he is an interesting contender once again now in first-team headgear. Jack Mitchell is booked to take the ride.
