Oisin Murphy in the early hours of this morning in Australia came a valiant second at Moonee Valley racecourse on board the Aidan O'Brien trained Spirit Of Valor just being pipped by the Australian horse Brave Smash.
Spirit Of Valor was the second string the Ballydoyle attack down under but managed to finish really well and was a very unlucky loser. He looked to have ben given a really strong ride by the Irishman but it has since been reported that Murphy has been given a 15 day ban for his ride on the horse.
This means that 10 time Group 1 winning jockey this season will miss the Melbourne Cup on November 6th at Flemington Racecourse due to this 15 day ban he has been given which is very unfortunate for a jockey that has had a remarkable season and he was set to ride Red Verdon who was a 33/1 shot.
Luckily the ban does not come into effect straight away and he will not miss his ride tomorrow morning on board the Saeed bin Suroor trained Benbatl. They are taking on the Queen of Australian racing in Winx who is going in search of her 29th straight victory and her 22nd straight Group 1 down under.
Murphy also does not miss his ride over in America for John Gosden on board his favourite horse to ride all season in Roaring Lion as the ban has been deferred to start after the Breeders Cup and he gets to go after his fifth Group 1 on the colt who is set to be retired after the race.
