A trainer on Monday is looking to have a winner at Kempton over the jumps, sending just one runner to the Southern based track on the day, which sees the handler make a 444 mile round trip.
The trainer in question is Peter Niven who hasn't actually had a runner at Kempton in the last 5 years; he's only ever sent one runner to the track across his whole training career.
He teams up with champion jockey Brian Hughes, who also makes the long distance journey from up North for a single ride, on board Malystic, who was last seen going down by a neck in listed company at Ayr on just his second start this year.
He was far from un-fancied in that contest, going off a 7/2 2nd fav to defy a mark of 145 in that grade and he should now be primed heading into todays affair third time up, taking on a slightly longer trip, dropped back down in class 2 company, off a mere 2lb higher mark.
