A trainer on Thursday is looking to have a winner at Ayr on the flat, sending just a runner to the Scottish venue which sees the handler make a 208 mile trip.
When we see trainers coming such a long way to just run the one horse we like to highlight it, as we believe they would not be coming all that way if it did not have a real chance.
The trainer in question is Tim Easterby who has been in fine form of late, and his representative Temper Trap.
The son of Slade Power was impressive last time out, proving his capabilities off a 5lb higher mark than his win at Hamilton in September to finish 2nd at that venue in a higher graded class 5 affair.
That was upon soft ground and the runner appears sure to appreciate those conditions once more for the drop back to the mile.
Last winning jockey David Allan is booked on board, a sign of intentions, whilst the application of first time cheekpieces may just prove to be the key in eeking out that final piece of improvement in order to get his head back in front.
