A trainer on Friday is looking to have a winner at Kempton on the all-weather, sending just one runner to the Southern based track on the day, which sees the handler make a 470 mile round trip.
When we see trainers coming such a long way to just run the one horse we like to highlight it, as we believe they would not be coming all that way if it did not have a real chance.
The trainer in question is Bryan Smart who sends sole representative Redzone to Kempton on the back two smart runs at Newcastle, readily winning the first of those runs by an impressive 2.5 lengths before subsequently holding that form next time out when going clear and getting within a neck of 4/7 fav Donizetti, rated 72.
Redzone is turned out quickly here, just 10 days since his most recent run, in order to maintain that level of performance, and by doing so means he is also 3lb well in at the weights here, off a rating of 58, given the handicapper has scheduled a raise for future handicaps.
Furthermore, Redzone appears set to be well suited by the first time outing at Kempton given progeny of his sire, Sepoy, hold an impressive 20% strike rate at the track (16 - 79); a £10 level win stake on all Sepoy runners at Kempton would have you up £275.
Gianluca Sanna, proving himself to be strong value for his 7lb claim in the saddle, is the retained rider on board and looks sure to be steering Redzone right into the mix of things once more here.
