Racing in Dubai kicks off again in the coming weeks and there is no doubt that some jockeys and trainers will be licking their lips.
All of the major players in Europe will descend on the track and many have good strike rates in the UAE. The most notable jockey is William Buick.
He currently has a 30% strike rate, winning 14 of the 47 races he has contested. Christophe Soumillon has a 28% strike rate off of his 36 runs and also returns an impressive profit of +£20.85 from his career at Meydan.
Unsurprisingly considering the race venue it is Godolphin trainers to concentrate on when it comes to trends. They have 35 winners out of 162 runs returning at 22%, and whilst it would have proved a small loss at -£3.58 for a level stake, if you can pick the right one's you have every chance.
Charlie Appleby is clearly the trainer to focus on. Winning 19 of his 69 entrants at Meydan and he returns an impressive profit of +£24.14 and has some strong runners heading over this year. The most notable of which may be Jungle Cat.
The six-year-old ran here three times during February and March as part of the 2018 Dubai World Cup and won on each occasion. It was only two weeks ago he won a Group One in Australia and is still in fine form.
However, with the ludicrously attractive money on offer and the high status of the races, there is little doubt there will be many top horses contesting some great races in preparation for the 2019 Dubai World Cup.
